The Virtual Work Visa (Remote Work Residence Visa) is a self-sponsored long-term residence visa for foreign nationals employed outside the UAE who wish to work remotely while residing in the country. It is designed for digital nomads, remote workers, freelancers, and entrepreneurs with overseas employment. No local employer sponsorship is required. This visa is actively available and accepting applications as of December 2025. It remains a core component of the UAE's long-term residence framework and is distinct from the freelance visa program. The visa allows unrestricted travel in and out of the UAE and provides zero income tax on foreign-earned income. The visa cannot be used for UAE-based employment, establishing UAE businesses, or sponsoring employees. It is renewable annually with no stated upper limit on the number of renewals.
