About this Visa

This visa is for people who are married to or in a serious relationship with an Australian citizen or permanent resident. You must be outside Australia when you apply. It lets you move to Australia to live with your partner. The process happens in two stages. First, you get a temporary visa (Subclass 309) that lets you enter Australia. About two years later, you can get a permanent resident visa (Subclass 100) if you are still together. You pay for both at the start.

  • Must be legally married OR in a de facto relationship
  • Must have an eligible Australian sponsor over 18
  • Must prove your relationship is genuine and continuing

Financial Requirement

No minimum income amount required. Your sponsor must simply prove they have enough money or a job to pay for your food and housing.
