This visa is for people who are already in Australia and have no close family living in other countries. It allows you to stay in Australia permanently to be with your only remaining relatives. You must be inside Australia when you apply and when the decision is made. It gives you permanent residence status immediately upon approval. Eligibility Criteria
- You must be inside Australia to apply
- You must have a sponsor who is an eligible close relative
- You and your partner must have no near relatives living outside Australia
- You must pass health and character requirements
- You must have an approved Assurance of Support
- You must not have had a previous visa cancelled or refused
Financial Requirement
Your sponsor generally needs to pay a bond called an Assurance of Support (AoS). This money is held by the government to ensure you do not need welfare payments.
