About this Visa
There is no special visa just for board members. Board members and executives use Switzerland's standard Type D visa to enter and work long-term. The Type D visa is for anyone staying in Switzerland longer than 90 days for work, study, or family reasons. Once you arrive, you swap it for a work permit (called an "L permit" or "B permit") that lets you actually work. Board members are treated like regular workers - they need a work permit. The key difference: If you're from the EU/EFTA (European countries), it's much easier. If you're from other countries, Switzerland checks if they can hire you instead of a local person.
