About this Visa
This visa lets you study or learn a trade in Switzerland for more than 90 days. It covers university, apprenticeships, vocational schools, and language courses. You get to live in Switzerland while you learn. The visa is different for EU/EFTA citizens and everyone else. EU/EFTA people have an easier path. Everyone else needs to prove they have a real reason to be there and can support themselves. This visa is active and accepting applications as of December 2025.

Eligibility Criteria
- Age 18+ (or 15+ for apprenticeships)
- Finished secondary school
- Language skills: B1 level in German, French, or Italian
- No serious criminal record
- Acceptance to a Swiss school or apprenticeship
- Financial capacity: CHF 25,000-35,000 per year
Financial Requirement
CHF 25,000-35,000 per year ($31,500-44,100). Must show bank statements (last 3 months), letter from bank, or proof of sponsorship from someone in Switzerland. All proof must be less than 1 month old.
