About this Visa
Costa Rica offers an investor visa for people who want to live there long-term. Invest money in a business, real estate, or environmental project, and you get permission to live in Costa Rica as a temporary resident for 2 years. After 3 years of residency, you can become a permanent resident. After 7 years total, you can become a Costa Rican citizen. The visa has two options: invest USD 150,000 the traditional way, or invest USD 70,000 in a business that creates 5 new jobs (faster approval). The main benefit is you get to live in Costa Rica legally and eventually become a citizen. You can own and profit from businesses, bring your family, and access healthcare. URGENT: The tax benefits from recent reforms end on July 14, 2026. After that date, you may need to invest more money (USD 200,000 instead of USD 150,000). Apply before then if you want the current benefits.
