About this Visa

This visa lets you join a family member living in Denmark. You can bring your spouse, partner, or children to live with you. You must be at least 24 years old. The visa is still active and accepting applications. However, starting July 1, 2026, you cannot use this visa if you are married to a cousin or relative. If this applies to you, apply before that date. This visa is strict and requires multiple conditions to be met at the same time, including language skills, good housing, financial stability, and proof of genuine relationship.

  • Legal marriage or 18+ months cohabitation required
  • Must have visited Denmark legally before
  • Must have passed language test or worked 3+ years in past 5 years
  • Must have 1+ year of education
  • Good housing required (20+ square meters per person, separate entrance)
  • Family member in Denmark must have Danish citizenship, permanent residence, or valid work/student visa
  • Cannot be married to a cousin or close relative (rule effective July 1, 2026)
  • Cannot have been convicted of violence against ex-partner in past 10 years
  • Neither party can have received cash help or integration benefits in past 3 years

Financial Requirement

Your family member in Denmark needs DKK 59,052 (~$9,223) in a bank guarantee. They must prove they earn enough to support you without government help for the past 3 years. Cannot have received cash help or integration benefits in past 3 years.
