About this Visa
This visa lets elite athletes and sports coaches work in the UK professionally. You need your sport's governing body to approve you as internationally elite. Without their approval, you cannot get this visa. You can work full-time as an athlete or coach, play for your national team, and after 5 years apply for permanent residence. This is only for elite athletes—not casual or amateur players.

Eligibility Criteria
- 16 or older
- Elite athlete or coach (internationally recognized)
- Governing body approval (mandatory)
- Basic English if staying over 1 year (or exempt if studied in English or from English-speaking country)
- No serious criminal record
- £1,270 in savings (or employer pays)
- UK employer sponsorship required
- 5-year travel and work history documentation
Financial Requirement
You need $1,615 in savings (£1,270) held for 28 days before applying. Partner: $362 extra. First child: $400 extra. Other children: $255 each extra.
