About this Visa
This visa lets non-EU creative professionals work independently in Germany. You can be an artist, writer, designer, musician, or any creative professional. You don't need a boss or employer—you run your own business. This is the fastest way to move to Germany for self-employed creative work. You can have multiple clients, work for people anywhere in the world, and live in Germany legally. What makes it special: Berlin approves artist applications incredibly fast (same day for great portfolios). Germany is pushing to attract creative talent. This visa is ACTIVE and accepting applications as of December 2025. It has not been discontinued.

Eligibility Criteria
- Not from EU/EEA/Switzerland
- Creative profession (artist, writer, designer, musician, architect, consultant, teacher)
- €10,000+ in savings or strong client contracts
- Valid health insurance
- No criminal record
- At least 2 client letters showing demand for your work
- German address registered before applying
- Over 18 years old
- If over 45: Proof of pension or savings for retirement
- Work only in your approved professional field
Financial Requirement
Minimum €10,000 in savings ($11,800) OR strong client contracts. If over 45: €1,565/month pension ($1,845) OR €225,364 in savings ($265,929). Show through bank statements (3-6 months), blocked account, client letters (min 2), or revenue forecast.
