About this Visa
The EU Blue Card is a work visa that lets highly skilled professionals from outside Europe live and work in Hungary. If you have a university degree or 5+ years of work experience, and you have a job offer that pays well, you might qualify. This visa is meant for people in jobs that need real expertise—like engineers, doctors, IT specialists, and other professional roles. This visa lets you work for an approved employer and bring your spouse and children. After your first year working, you can switch jobs without needing a new visa. You can also move to other European countries to work there. Many people use this visa as a step toward permanently living in Hungary or Europe.

Eligibility & Requirements
Eligibility Criteria
- Have a real job offer waiting in Hungary
- Have university degree in your field OR at least 5 years work experience
- Your job must pay the minimum salary for your occupation
- Speak English
- Have health insurance covering everything
- Job contract must be for at least 6 months
- Must NOT have applied for refugee or asylum status
- Must NOT be EU or European Union citizen
- Must NOT have temporary protection status in Hungary
Financial Requirement
Your job must pay at least $2,286 per month USD. If you work in healthcare (doctor, nurse, pharmacist), you need at least $1,850 per month USD. These amounts increase each year on January 1.
