About this Visa
Japan has two trainee systems. The old one (Technical Intern Training) is still active but closing in April 2027. A new system called "Employment for Skill Development" will replace it. This visa is for people who want to work in Japan and learn a skill they can use back home. You get paid and work a real job while learning. The trainee visa is only available to people from 17 specific countries (mostly in Asia). If you're from other countries, you cannot get this visa—there's no pathway for you.
