About this Visa

Montenegro doesn't have a special "retirement visa." Instead, retirees use the Digital Nomad visa if they have enough income. You need to show €2,010 per month ($2,110 USD) to qualify. You can live in Montenegro for up to 4 years, renew indefinitely after that with a break, and don't pay taxes on your foreign pension. This visa is popular with retirees and remote workers because costs are low, the process is fast, and the country has a beautiful Mediterranean coast. You can work online for foreign companies but cannot get a local job in Montenegro. The program is designed for people who don't need to work locally. As long as you have stable foreign income, you can live here legally and enjoy the low cost of living.
