About this Visa
The Occupation Permit (OP) is the main visa for foreign professionals who want to live and work in Mauritius. It combines a work permit and a residence permit into one simple document. You can apply if you have a job offer, start your own business, or work as a freelancer. This permit is popular because it offers a fast-track process and is valid for up to 10 years. It is designed to attract skilled workers and investors from around the world. Unlike standard work permits, you do not need to prove that a local person cannot do the job. As of late 2025, the system now uses two main categories for employees: the ProPass for standard professionals and the Expert Pass for high-earning executives.
