About this Visa
Mexico's Temporary Resident Visa lets you live legally in Mexico for 1-4 years. You don't need a Mexican job—you just need to prove you have enough money to support yourself from work outside Mexico. This visa is accessible if you earn enough from remote work. No Mexican company needs to sponsor you. After 4 years, you can get permanent residency. After 5 years, you can become a Mexican citizen. Who is it for? Remote workers, freelancers, and people with income from outside Mexico. You must earn at least USD 4,185 per month OR have USD 69,750 saved. You can work for international companies online from Mexico, live, travel inside Mexico, and bring your family. You cannot work for a Mexican employer without an extra permit. What makes it special? After 4 years of consecutive residency, you become eligible for permanent residency. After 5 years of legal residence, you can pursue Mexican citizenship. The process takes 5-8 weeks total from application to residency card.
