About this Visa

The RP-T is a long-term work visa for skilled professionals earning good salaries. You can live and work in Malaysia for 10 years without being locked into one job. Your spouse and children can come with you, and your spouse can work too. The best part: You can change jobs anytime without asking permission. Most work visas do not allow this. You must already be working in Malaysia on a work visa for at least 3 years before you can apply. This visa is not available for people applying from abroad.

Eligibility & Requirements

Eligibility Criteria

  • Already worked in Malaysia for 3 consecutive years on a work visa
  • Have current valid work visa with 3+ months remaining
  • Earn at least RM 15,000 basic monthly ($3,665 USD)
  • Have bachelor degree, master degree, diploma, or professional certificate
  • Have 5+ years of total work experience
  • Have Malaysian income tax file number
  • Have paid Malaysian income tax for at least 2 years
  • No criminal record
  • Pass health screening (blood tests, chest X-ray)

Financial Requirement

Earn at least RM 15,000 per month (~$3,665 USD) in basic salary. Prove you paid income tax for at least 2 years.
