About this Visa
This visa allows you to do unpaid internships, volunteer work, or professional training in Portugal for 1+ years. You must have a Portuguese organization accept you first. The organization typically provides housing and food. This is not a work visa—you gain experience while learning, not earning a regular paycheck. You get the initial visa for 4 months. Once you arrive in Portugal, you apply for a residence permit for the full program duration. The visa is easier to get than work visas because your organization sponsors you. Available to all non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens. No countries are banned from applying.
