About this Visa
Sweden offers four main work permits for skilled professionals from outside the EU/EEA. Choose the Job Seeker Visa to explore opportunities without a job offer, the EU Blue Card for highly skilled workers, Self-Employment Permit to start a business, or Standard Work Permit with a job offer. All permits lead to permanent residency and citizenship. The Job Seeker Visa is for Master's degree holders or professionals with advanced qualifications who want to search for employment. The EU Blue Card is for university graduates or those with 5+ years professional experience in skilled fields. The Self-Employment Permit is for experienced entrepreneurs wanting to start a business in Sweden. The Standard Work Permit is the most common path for anyone with a Swedish job offer. All four permits remain active and accepting applications as of December 2025. No country-based discrimination applies—nationals from any country can apply under the same rules. Health insurance is mandatory for all permits, and family members can accompany you.
