About this Visa
The E-1 is a work visa for professors and researchers who teach or do research at South Korean universities and colleges. You need an advanced degree and a job offer from a university. This visa lets you work legally in South Korea. You automatically get health insurance. Your family can live with you. After 5 years, you can apply for permanent residency and eventually citizenship.
