About this Visa
The Q-1 visa lets you work in the US for up to 15 months sharing your country's culture. You work for a US employer while teaching Americans about your home country's history, traditions, and culture. This visa is for people with cultural knowledge or skills who want to work and teach at the same time. Your job must include teaching or sharing your culture with the public. You cannot just do any work—the position must be integral to a cultural exchange program.

Eligibility & Requirements
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be 18 or older
- Speak English well enough to teach about your culture
- Have training or education in your cultural field
- Pass medical examination
- Pass criminal background check
- If previously on Q-1 for 15 months, must stay outside US for 1 full year before reapplying
- Must prove you will return to your home country after program ends
Financial Requirement
Your employer must pay you fair wages—the same as US workers doing similar jobs. You do not need to show personal savings.
